Angela Carlson, Ph.D.

Angela is currently the Lab Director for the Agriculture and Food business for SGS North America. SGS is the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company with more than 90,000 employees, and a network of over 2,000 offices and laboratories around the world. Angela received a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Biology at South Dakota State University, and spent an additional two years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Angela returned to South Dakota in 2006 joining the SGS group, initially working in the DNA-Seed Protein department. In 2009 SGS expanded into an additional facility and Angela developed a full service accredited analytical laboratory focused on testing of grain, feed, and food products for Nutritional Quality and Food Safety. In 2016 Angela took on the additional role of Laboratory Director across the Agriculture and Food lab network in the USA.
Angela is active in working with clients and industry members to continue improving the nutritional value and safety of our grain, feed, and food ingredients. She has presented technical talks at various industry meetings along with publications with collaborators. SGS is also an active member of Midwest Shippers Association, US Grains Council and other industry organizations that promote US Agriculture.
